Introducing DEISY

As some of you know I recently lost our terrific Retriever Amy, she was 12 and a half and succumbed to illness in her last weeks.
Although I initially said "NO more Dogs" somebody told me of a similar dog to Amy that needed a good home. However by the time I called he had already got somewhere to live, but it set me off on my quest for a new companion as the hole in all our lives, without Amy , was vast.
To cut a long story short, I heard about, met and now have DEISY(she originally lived in Spain and will be known as Daisy)
She has brightened my life considerably and all of the family love her...
This weekend she had a trip to the groomers, so here is a before...

And today she had a trip to the park and was a complete angel when I let her off her lead (something her previous owner said she never did so it was a bit scary!)

I had such an exciting weekend. Saturday was spent in Reading on SU Training with lots of lovely demonstrators and lots of inspiration, with a fun challenge too

This was our teams entry its a box and an easle card and looks so much nicer in real life !

This is another demos card using a set from the new mini catalogue. Sorry - didnt write down who made it.

I have a nice collection of demo swap cards to show you very soon....

On Sunday I did a craft fair in Lyndhurst and met loads of nice people and some had heard of Stampin Up already !!! That was followed by Alli's final music project gig at the Talking Heads , so I was proud mum once again .

I am quite exhausted today, but promise to update the blog with peeks from the new mini catalogue very soon.

I have been too absent from my blog for a while but will rectify that in the next few days.

Just had to let you know about this.

Egg-citement !

Yesterday was a very special day, after weeks of being ready and waiting , it was finally battery hen rescue day!
When we got to Bursledon there were about 100+ chickens in Alice's garage. I had known what to expect but to actually see them all in their various states of missing feathers and 'oven readiness' was quite an eyeopener: made me want to take home more than I could.
Alice selected the 4 chickens one by one. Nearest first - no picking!
We settled the carrier into the back of the car and set off home.

Once home we opened the crate and showed the girls their new home. First I gave them names.
Babs : dark brown- most adventurous very keen to look around.
Daisy : dark brown with very few throat feathers and a bare chest. As the afternoon progressed she got to be the bossy one.
Izzy : lighter brown- so far quieter than the others
Flo: Light brown and doesnt open her eyes much.

Flo started to worry us as she was looking very sickly and wouldnt move about like the others. We managed to get her to have a drink or two and she did open hers eyes once or twice.
I think I am going to have to be careful.sitting outside alongside the chicken run is going to eat into my craft time.

Punch class rescheduled

Have rearranged the more punch fun class for 8th August at Hound Parish Hall, Butlocks Heath, so31 5fr .please sign up as soon as possible. £12 per person 10-2.30pm bring your lunch and any SU punches you have .
This class is suitable for children over 8 years old, but children must be accompanied by an adult.

Chocolate Heaven Today!

What a fun class.
Lots of choccie biscuits and loads of cards made with Stampin up Chocolate Chip card and Close to Cocoa too.
We also made a hinged box to put our cards into, and made a chocolate bar wrapper.
Sylv says she is going to fill her box with chocolate bars in wrappers and give it away as a gift, what a great idea.

I will take some pics later and upload next time Im on.

Once again I have drifted off asnd not updated my blog for a while. Lots has been happening. A great cupcake class on June 13th and I was up early making blueberry muffins. They seemed to go down well !
My favourite card of the day was the step card.

The Artstamps show at Newbury Racecourse is just a week away and Carolyn and I have been busy preparing our stand! Neither of us have ever done anything like this before so we are nervous but excited at the same time. Really looking forward to making some new stampin up friends!

In addition to all that I am planning to rehome some ex-battery hens. The coop is already and waiting in the garden and I am awaiting the email from the local co-ordinator to tell me when they will arrive.

Ive been busy getting ready for tomorrows class and I'm really pleased with the cards we are going to make. I'm keeping them a secret for now though so come back in a couple of days and I should have some pics uploaded.

The same goes for the Christmas Cards I made at Christmas Card club they will be up in a couple of days too.

I still have a few spaces at the crop next saturday and with Stampin Ups MAY offer there are bargains to be had with a buy 3 get 1 free on designer papers.

I was away last weekend with the Blossom Babes and friends on our annual get away. Thats Lynn Karen, Anita, Sue, Ange, Gilly, Jill and Linda and Me. Between us we made 96 Layouts and as I hadnt scrapped since last years trip I was amazed to have produced 29 of them.

I really got back into it so cant wait for my crop dates to come around, I might even get to finish my Dominican Album!!

Mini Catalogue Card Samples

Here are a few of the cards I have made with stamps from the mini catalogue the first two are made with the 'Choo Choo ' set and 'right on track' wheel. See page 13 of the mini cat: £14.95 and £5.95 respectively.

Soft summer is a lovely 2 step stamping set which is double mounted to save you storage space. Its on page 3 and is £20.95, In this card I stamped the image onto coloured card and then cut it out.'paper piecing I think the technique is called.
The sentiment is from 'Oval all' from page 16 at £14.95 the set of 4 stamps. I used the Oval scallop punch with it . Page 17 £12.50

Its been such a busy time since the charity evening. Ive been involved in card swaps and Stampin Up field training, so have been making some great cards.
These are the cards made at field training . They are all made with the 'Forest Friends' stamp set from the mini catalogue. Its a great set and very reasonably priced at £12.95.
To make get the reflection you need a 'stamp-ma-jig' its a great technique!

The mini catalogue is out now and will be with us until September. There are some fab stamp sets and accessories in it. If you would like to order anything let me know, my first order will be sent in next week and I am offering free postage to anyone who places an order before that.

I have just updated the class list with some great classes from now to September : If you would like a copy let me know and I will email it to you.

Charity Cards update.

I am very proud to say that the totals are finalised and 121 cards went to the Marie Curie shop on Monday. That gives them potential funding of £121.
The Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity will shortly be receiving a cheque for £135 from the raffle, entry, donations and card sales.
Well done to everyone who made cards or bought cards and made this such a success.

Birthday Thanks

Just wanted to say a big thankyou for all the lovely birthday cards I have received. I had a great birthday - Terry took me clothes shopping on Friday, then we all went out for a meal at Georges Restaurant. Then Suzi and I went to the bead shop and then out for lunch on my birthday yesterday. I feel like I shouldn't eat for a month. And I certainly need to get some beading done as there wasnt space in my bead box for my purchases :)

Charity Card Caper

We all had a great evening and over 160 cards were made and donated. Some were sold at the Community Centre bar and others have been sold since.
With door entry money and the raffle plus some money from the sale of cards I have £120 to give to the Countess Mountbatten Hopice. The rest of the cards and any other monies collected will go to the Marie Curie shop very soon.

I am looking forward to doing it all again next year.

One of the highlights of the evening for me was realising that other members of my family could enjoy making cards too (they usually shy away from my crafts) and they made some great cards as you can see above.

Its just 24 hours till the Charity Card Caper and I'm getting really excited. I have been receiving little packages of cards from people I dont even know and today received a parcel from one of my scrapbooking friends- who doesnt usually make cards...they are great Anita!

So far I have over 60 cards and I know we will make plenty more on the evening.
Both Marie Curie Card Campaign and the Countess Mountbatten Hospice will benefit from the money raised tomorrow.

I know my Dad would be pleased to know we will be remembering him in this very special way.

What a weekend!

Ive had a busy weekend . It started on Friday evening with a Home Demo for Lesley, a fun evening with some lovely ladies.

The usual shopping etc on Saturday and then today was the Wheelie Fun class. Again a lovely group of ladies. We made six cards with Stampin Around wheels and some other stamps too.

Below are a couple of pics of some of the cards we made.

To make these cards I made a frame to run the roller stamp through and used my circle punches to create the openings. After stamping the image, I held the frame/mask in place and I used a sponge dauber to highlight the edges of the circles. Its a very effective look and I think I first saw it on Split coast stampers but I cant remember if it was a tutorial or just on somebodys gallery.

The next card is my favourite of the day and uses the Nursery letters wheel and Wild about you stamp set. The Apricot Appeal really looks good with the Old Olive layer .

The final card shown uses Perfect Plum ink on Pale Plum cardstock and the Forever Flowers stampin Around Wheel. I stamped an extra section with the roller on a scrap piece of card and punched out the flower to make the scalloped embellishment.

I've been really busy getting everything ready for the 5 March and turning out my stash drawers to sell some on the 50/50 table.

Because I anticipate that on the evening I will be too busy to actually make many cards I have got an early start and so far there are 26 cards in my box...not all mine Lesley has donated a few too (Thanks Lesley).

Dont forget to let me know if you are able to come, or just send me some cards if you cant make it.

In memory of Herbert Broomfield - My Dad who passed away on 5 March 2008.
Prior to his passing the help from Marie Curie Nurses was immeasurable.
So I am organising a card fest: an opportunity to make cards which will be passed to the local Marie Curie Shop.
So bring along your card making materials and tools, particularly all that stash that sits in the cupboard and really needs using up and have a fun evening making cards for a great cause. There will be some stash available for you to use.

There will also be a 50/50 sale table - let me know if you have anything you’d like to sell.
A raffle and more….

Entry will be £1 which will be donated to the Charity.

Whats happened to February!

Where February gone ??
What with ill children and hospitals the last week or two has gone by in a blur.
The Punch Party Class was great fun with lots of lovely ard elements made. I am trying to use mine up on a few special cards now.

This time last year my family and I werent having the best of times and my Dad was fighting the last part of his battle with Cancer. I recently came across the Do-Craft Create a Card for Cancer Care Campaign and have decided I should get involved.
So I am organising a Card making evening and all the cards will be passed to 'Marie Curie Cancer Care' so that they can be sold to make money for their great cause.
So if you would like to come along or just donate some of your surplus cards please let me know.

As I promised myself a more active crafting life I decided I should take part in a few card swaps.

Its fun to receive cards for ideas and inspiration and it keeps the posty busy :)

One of the US forums that I have been a member of for several years arranges swaps where you have to make just 2 cards, This is so much easier than sitting down to make 6 or 10.

I couldn't resist using SU for the 'thankyou card with hearts swap'.
The multi-heart image is from a hostess set (You need to hostess a level one party to earn that- ask me how!)
The bold heart image is from a set called 'Best wishes and More' the word Thank you is from 'wonderful words'.Cardstock is pink passion, pixie pink and whisper white. Ink is pink passion. I also used the SU scallop border punch.

I am really pleased with how they turned out.

Today I spent a few hours on my hands and knees going through drawers and boxes of stash...
the main thing I realised is that I wouldnt have to buy anything new and I would still be able to make birthday and Christmas cards for years . But that wouldnt be any fun would it?

So I have freecycled a huge pile of magazines and I may have to try the ebay way of moving some stamps that need a loving home.

I had intended to make a card or two but the dining room table couldnt cope with that and the re-organisation.So maybe tomorrow....

Resolutions and New Starts

Had a lovely evening at a neighbours to see in the New Year. Thank you Amanda & Phil x .

And this morning I was thinking about resolutions. As usual I will ignore the obvious lose weight and get fit! I sometimes try but can never keep that one going.
Instead I have decided to be much more organised with my stamping and demos and in particular my blog. I want to spend much more time actually making cards and craft items rather than just thinking about it and that should help me fill my blog.
I have also decided that I want to share a few non SU card on my blog, so look out for those....after all techniques and ideas can work with all sorts of different products and I certainly have a lot of choice here in my craft area (years of collecting , you know !)

So first things first and I have a few family birthday cards to make , but then I think I will work on a blog routine. You know the sort of thing a Monday = sketch challenge, Tuesday = colour challenge, wednesday= NON SU , Thursday = .......... and so on. I will update you all when I know what I am up to.

Anyway thats the resolution , a new start for my blog and my SU demoship (is that a word?)
of course we all know what happens with resolutions, but I promise myself that I will really try to keep to it this year.

Almost Xmas

Its such a busy time. shopping almost done, preparations underway.
Of course this year will be very different for my family. Our first Christmas without Dad will no doubt be a diffiult one. But hopefully happy memories will help us through.

I have a few days off from my 'day job' so I hope to spend some SU catching up time very soon. There is so much stamping to look forward to in the new year.
Not least -A selection of classes over the next month or two. Dont forget to book your place.

At my latest demo, we all made post it note key rings. They are so simple to make and a fun gift.

I cant remember where I got the idea exactly , but it was probably from Splitcoast Stampers Forum.

As you can see we used the great 'Tart and Tangy' stamp set which is another of the sets in the new catalogue. They are a great value set at just £10.95 for the 4 stamps.

The scallop circle punch was also used for this project. I cant wait to make some more.

Christmas shopping!! Love it or hate it, it comes around all to quickly every year.

When my children were younger I was tasked with shopping for my own presents too, luckily Alex is now old enough to help her Dad out with some of it :) But it never really felt the same unwrapping the gifts I had wrapped for myself.

Anyway, how about giving your loved ones a few hints and making shopping for you really easy. Just ask me for a wish list and catalogue. Complete your list and give it to your relatives. All they have to do is contact me and I will organise the gifts and wrapping, then they just have to keep it hidden until Christmas morning. (and if you want I will keep a copy of your list so that if they lose it I can still help them out ! )

Last orders for wish list items will be placed the first week in December. There will be a small additional charge for gift wrapping.

watercolours

Thankfully I seem to be getting my normal stamping self back. I noticed that my birthday box was almost empty, so decided I should make a few cards to refill it.

I decided to used the SU watercolour wonder crayons with some of my 'Penny Black stamps' - I just love the hedgies!

The crayons are great and can be used with blender pens, water brush, or normal paint brush and of course they match the SU cardstock perfectly, giving each card a lovely look! Here are just a few of the cards I got started on, hope you like them.

I had a great time at the ' cards for christmas' class on Saturday, which was held as part of world card making day celebrations.
Carolyn and I each did a couple of cards and I think I am right in saying that everyone had a good time and got some new ideas.
Since then I have been putting together a few ideas for extra classes and details will be posted very soon.

Since my last post I have thoroughly explored the new SU catalogue and I'm eagerly awaiting a parcel of brand new stamp sets that I sill be able to use at SU parties soon. Look out for new card samples here very soon.

Smiles

Nothing has ever made me smile as much as swimming with dolphins.

I hadnt planned to have a go myself, but had made a promise to my daughter when she underwent major surgery on her legs.

In the end we all went, it was a fabulous day out and we all had a great time.

I havent spent much time online since I came back from my holiday, theres always something else needs to be done. But hopefully I will make time to update my blog at least once a week from now on.

Well i didnt realise it had been a month since I last posted. the weeks are just going so fast.

Life here is all about school exams and leaving dates. Doesnt seem like two minutes ago that she went ot school for the first time !

Here is a card I made whilst away. It uses the designer papers and a stamp from the Be Happy stamp set.Ink is pumpkin pie, cardstock is Sage Shadow and Whisper White. I borrowed the punch so I dont know who makes it.

This was such a quick and easy card to make and ideal for using up paper scraps.

April Snow showers

Woke up this morning to a light dusting of snow - rare in Southampton , but in April !!
The sun is now shining and the snow has all but vanished.

Anyway thought it was about time I posted on here and let you all know what I have been up to.

The card above was inspired by a sketch on 'Splitcoast Stampers forum' I used the Petals wheel with versamark ink on Rose Red cardstock and the flowers stamp is from Stampin Up set -Simply Said. Its a really easy card to make . Just fold a piece of black A5 cardstock in half and then fold the front side back on itself.
A trimmed piece of A6 size card is then cut in half and stamped. I then decorated with a panel of white layered onto a slighjtly bigger piece of black cs and stampes with Rose Red ink.

This similar example may give you a better idea of how its done. This time I used Certainly Celery ink on the white panels and the stamp was from 'made from scratch'

I just wanted to say Thank you to everyone who sent cards and best wishes over the last couple of weeks. I received beautiful cards from terrific crafters fom the UK and the USA.
It was Dad's funeral yesterday and it was a lovely service, in the church where he used to be church warden. It was obvious from the turnout that he had many friends and will be greatly missed.

I am back to work and relatively normal life now , so I will be getting some new ideas up here in the next few days.

Missing you DAD

Although Dad had been battling cancer for the last 3 years, the battle got harder since Christmas.
Sadly Dad passed away yesterday (Wednesday 5 March 2008).
I will miss him so much as will my brothers and sister and of course my Mum.
I may be quiet on here for a few days, but I know how much my dad wanted me to succeed with Stampin Up, so I will be back soon.

A yearly Challenge !

Once again this year I have set myself the challenge of making all my Christmas Cards by October. A few at a time of course !
This is my first effort for this year and uses the Swirling Stars jumbo wheel from page 29 of the catalogue (stamped with versamark ink), the holly stamp from the 'Happiest of Holidays' set also page 29 and 'Celebrate' from the wonderful words set on page 60.
I used Green Galore and Real Red ink and cardstock.
I think I may make more but add a few brads or ribbon.
Either way its a quick and simple card and will help me on the way to getting those festive cards moving - never too soon to start, I always say :)

It was a manic week last week and as a result I was a bit down and depressed all weekend.

But I woke up early this morning and although its cold it was sunny and bright, and I realised I have to make the effort to smile and be cheerful.

This card is one that makes me smile. It is made with the 'Unfrogettable' stamp set which is on page 33 of the current Stampin Up catalogue.

I have also used a stamp from 'Simply Said' with versamark for the background.

The cardstock is rose red and old olive and I have used the white 1/4" grosgrain ribbon.

Make and Takes

I always do a make and take for the guests at home workshops. This is the first one I did, it was just before valentines day so seemed appropriate. But would be just as useful as an anniversary or wedding card.

It uses basic black & rose red cardstock and ink, stamps are from the 'Wonderful Words' and 'Made from Scratch' sets. It is a really simple card to make and only takes a few minutes.

I have also done it with different words and using the flower stamp from the same set, in different colourways.

More Wild about You!!

Here is the last of my 'Wild about you' samples. I used the scallop punch and the circle punch.
The cardstock is Really Rust, with a panel of elegant eggplant and a small strip of regal rose.

I finally found a few minutes to get those pictures on. These are all from the 'Wild About You' set which is on page 32 of the catalogue. I think he black and tempting turquoise goes really well on this card. The you're special stamp isn't SU - I can t remember where I got that but have had it for years.
Ive used Rose Red Cardstock and Ink with brads from the rich regal set. Designer paper is from the Cutie Pie set on page 73. The Lion is stamped on to Barely Banana Cardstock
The elephants ear is decoupaged to give depth to this card. The ink is pixie pink and the cardstock - whisper white, pixie pink and green galore. Also used the corner rounder punch.

I just love this set because I think that you can make a card for almost anyone with it!

A pick up for you - DAD!

Apologies for not posting sooner, but my Dad is very poorly and has had to have constant attention this last week or so. He has been battling cancer for the last 2 and a half years but is sadly losing the fight. My Mum is just about managing with the help of the wonderful nurses who visit their home frequently, but I have been trying to be with her as much as possible to help where I can .
Please keep me and my family in your prayers.

When I do get a few minutes to think, it is SU and card ideas/class ideas that are keeping me going.
I promise to add the promised pics very soon.

Stamp A Stack Class update

Catching Up

Time is racing by as always, and I thought it about time I added a few sample cards to the blog.
I really enjoyed playing with all the stamp sets and have tried to come with some simple designs that beginners can enjoy making.

I used the white pen on page 82 of the catalogue to highlight this card made with |Year after Year (page 36). The ink is green galore and the card is barely banana, garden green and bordering blue. The get well message is part of the Sincere Salutations set (page 61)

Another of my quick cards is made using versamark and a jumbo wheel stamp and the pastel popping technique on the background panel. The base card is lavender lace as is the ink. the border cs is cameo coral, and thats another sincere salutations greeting.
The tag image is from the terrific tags set which is a level 1 hostess set (see page 15)

Another card using Year after Year. The elephant is stamped onto watercolour paper and coloured in with a wonder crayon (page 82)
The cardstock amd ink are tempting turquoise and the designer paper is from the petals and paisley set (page 73)
'Celebrate' is from Wonderful Words (page 60)

Where has the last month gone?
I have done a demo - Thanks Vera. I really had fun.

I did all my Christmas shopping, but never did get all my Christmas cards made and sent.
Christmas itself was a lovely relaxed time spent with family and eating far too much and since then I seem to have been living in a blur. There are classes to prepare and more samples to make and lots of photos to upload.... promise I will get to all that soon. But thought I should post just to let you know I am still about :)

New Beginnings

Well the 15 November has come and gone, but the excitement of being in at the start of Stampin'Up in the UK continues.
My demonstrator kit has arrived and I am busily making samples, getting to know the catalogue and phoning a few long lost crafting friends to try and make workshop bookings.
My first demo is in 2 weeks and is primarily for family so I can have a practise run.

I have booked a local hall for a 'stamp a stack' class in January, so I am organising flyers to publicise that too.
